§ 62-1. Injuring or failing to return books, materials.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to injure or to fail to return to the city library, after written demand therefore mailed to the last-known address of such person any book, periodical or property belonging to the library. The written demand shall state that demand is being made pursuant to the authority contained in this section, and that failure to return the book, periodical or property specified within ten days from the date shown on the written demand shall be considered a violation of this section which may be prosecuted and upon conviction fined no less than $50.00 nor more than $350.00.

    (b)

    Nothing in this section shall be construed as in any way affecting or terminating the system of civil fines and administrative sanctions now or hereafter employed by said library in connection with its program of lending books, periodicals and other property but shall be supplementary thereto.
